Action Ministries works in communities across North Georgia to provide help and hope for the hurting.

We are a faith-based non-profit organization with roots in the United Methodist Church. Our programs of feeding, clothing, children’s services, emergency assistance, transitional housing, services for persons with HIV/AIDS and support in overcoming addiction and homelessness offer help in crisis today and hope for wholeness tomorrow.

Through these ministries, which are open to all in need, we live the conviction that every human being deserves a sense of self worth and respect, a life with dignity, availability of services, quality of life, and decent, affordable housing.

The Interfaith Airport Chapel provides a sanctuary in the world's busiest airport. The Interfaith Airport Chapel is open to passengers, visitors, airport employees, and airline employees of all faiths for prayer and meditation. Chaplaincy services are available throughout the week to assist the traveling public and airport employees with their spiritual needs.

Services of Christian worship are held each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and at other times during the week.

Aldersgate Homes, Inc. was established as a ministry of the North Georgia Conference United Methodist Church in 1991. We have been partnering with United Methodist Churches across the North Georgia Conference to provide services to the developmentally disabled in the years since then.

Over the past 16 years, Aldersgate Homes, in partnership with local congregations, and assisted by public and private service providers, has provided developmentally disabled individuals with safe, comfortable, affordable housing. We oversee residents in 3 group homes, 2 apartments, and a condominium. Our facilities are located in 5 of the 12 districts of the conference.

The Andrew College experience is positively life-changing. You'll receive the personal attention that you deserve and feel comfortable being yourself as soon as you step foot on campus. You'll meet interesting people from all walks of life and you'll be challenged to achieve more than you thought possible. You'll grow and learn on campus where professors know you by your first name and take serious interest in your success.

Our Vision:

To be a society where all people in Appalachia are valued for who we are; where all are called to be disciples for Jesus Christ; and where all have the opportunity to realize our God-created spiritual, social and economic potential.

Our Goals:

To provide education and training for local church leaders, lay and clergy, in an Appalachian context. (Focus Area: Developing Leaders and Revitalization). To provide education and awareness for advocacy on issues that impact Appalachia. (Focus Area:  Health Care). To support ministry that addresses systemic causes of poverty in Appalachia. (Focus Area: Eradicating Poverty). Develop a communication strategy.

Tom Atkins represents a new generation of evangelists by seeking to bring the timeless truths and experiences of the Gospel to our contemporary culture. After many years of struggling with a call into full time evangelism, Tom was appointed as a General Evangelist from the North Georgia Conference in 1994. He pastored United Methodist churches in North Georgia for 23 years before being appointed as a General Evangelist. Since then, he has preached in 19 annual conferences.

Tom will come to any church regardless of size for a love offering plus expenses.

United Methodist Men shall be a creative supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually and to seek daily his will. Our primary purpose is to declare the centrality of Christ in the lives of men and in all their relationships. The major concerns are: To encourage knowledge of and support for the total mission of The United Methodist Church. To engage in evangelism by sharing the fullness of the gospel in its personal and social dimensions. To clarify and speak to the identity and role of the man in contemporary society. To seek commitment to discipleship. To study and become familiar with The United Methodist Church, its organization, doctrines, and beliefs. To cooperate with all units of United Methodist Men in obtaining these objectives through district, conference, jurisdiction, and church-wide goals. Men seeking membership in a local United Methodist Men's Fellowship shall subscribe to the "Purpose" of United Methodist Men and to these personal objectives: Engage daily in Bible study and prayer. Bear witness to Christ's way in daily work and in all personal contacts through words and actions. Engage in some definite Christian service.

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. 2009 Theme: "Come to the Table"
